The SIZE Small of this pattern fits up to a 24″ chest. The SIZE Large will fit up to a 28″ chest.

The record below of a theft of clothing off a child gives some description of how it was worn. In 1754 from: The Proceedings of the Old Bailey Ref:t17540717-12 ot says”

Sarah Stoner, theft: simple grand larceny, tried on 17ppth July, 1754 fora  theft that took place June 8 1754 in Bartholomew close, a part of London, England.

Summary: Sarah Stoner, an 11 year old girl apprenticed to her aunt, was indicted for stripping the clothing from a child and selling the clothing. THe mother of hte stripped child, Elizabeth Jackson, stated that missing from the child ere “A Linen sack, her stays , skirt, shift, stockings, shoes , a pin cloth from before her, and a top knot”. One of the witnesses, Mary LInch, produced “an underpetticoat, a knot, and a piece fo check cloth (presumably the pin cloth). These thing I bought from the prisoner at the bar (Sarah SToner).” Elizabeth Jackson, upon being questioned if the things were her property, stated “The pin cloth an dtopknot are, and were on my child that morning’ the petticoat is not.” Sarah was found guilty and was sentenced to transport to America for seven years as punishment.
