The Revolutionary War Period began with the Proclamation of 1763 at the end of the French and Indian War. The Sugar Act in April of 1764, the Stamp Act in March of 1765, the Quartering Act in May of 1765, the Stamp Act followed by the Virginian Resolution in 1765. In October 1765 came the Stamp Act Congress when the representatives of the 13 colonies declared the Stamp Act unconstitutional as it was a tax levied without their consent. By 1776-1777 the 13 colonies were ready to declare independence from England and take up arms. In 1768 British troops arrived in Boston in response to the political unrest. In 1776 came the Boston Massacre and many other events that led up to the Battles of the Revolutionary War that freed the colonists of English rule forever.
