This pair is made from German Tanned buckskin. It looks, feels and acts like brain tanned hide but is tanned in Gernany without using brains. It does not have the odor that often accompanies brain tanned hides but does have the look, feel and texture and has NO membrane on either side, therefore it has 2 suede like sides instead of one smooth side. These hides are much more expensive than commercial tanned hides but much less expensive than brain tanned hides making them a good alternative.
