Ladies Clothing &
Accessories of the Early 1800's
Bonnets, Aprons, and
Pockets
We are proud to offer a
lovely assortment of Ladies Bonnets, Aprons and Pockets.
It was of utmost
importance to ladies to keep their skin as white and fair as possible. Suntans
were very undesirable and a "lady" never exposed herself to such a
thing. BONNETS were also very practical to keep long hair out of the way
and clean
Bonnet
Our standard Bonnet
features a wide brim. Two ribbons in a casing gather the back ruffle in
the center inside the bonnet and are adjustable for fitting.

Other Aprons Coming!
The CHEMISE was basic to a colonial, civil war, and fur
trade era womans wardrobe. It served as both an undergarment and a
nightgown but was also called a shift or a smock and was worn as a dress for
everyday use. It was belted or worn with an apron to gather the waist when
worn as a dress.
|
Our basic CHEMISE has a ribbon gathered scooped neckline and
sleeves that gather at or below the elbow. The construction techniques are
authentic complete with gussets under the arms. All our chemises feature
delicate lace trim at the neck and sleeves unless you request plain. |
|
The CHEMISE to the left features a ruffle on the bottom.

CLARA'S SKIRT
|
CLARA'S
SKIRT
In the
mid 1800's, the idea of a separate skirt and blouse (called a bodice or
waist) was introduced. The common approach was "two waists to
every skirt", lending variety to a limited wardrobe. At
first the skirts were 126" around. By the Civil War they were
190" around, but after that they reached the immense circumference
of 250" and ove! This skirt runs from 220" to 265", about
9 1/2 yards of fabric per skirt. This skirt was worn over
pantaloons and multiple petticoats.

DRESSES
At Wyoming Classics and
Bridge Over Time, we make so many different kinds of dresses from so many
different fabrics and with such a variety of trims and buttons, that it is hard
to make a fair presentation of them on our site. This group of dresses are
mainly for everyday wear by everyday people. Some of them overlap in time frames
as well. If you don't see exactly what you want, just get in touch. We have so
many more patterns than we can represent online and will be glad to send
pictures of others. We have also copied many dresses from movies and TV shows.
